Matt O'Brien is a multifaceted artist with a background in graphic design, having spent 15 years in the field before embarking on his signature project, the SkullFACE Project. This initiative began in May 1, 2012 as a personal expression of his artistic style for social media. Over time, Matt expanded the project to include holiday-themed designs, innovative art techniques, and depictions of notable figures from various fields, such as actors, musicians, and fictional characters. By November 2015, he introduced "FunFacts" into the project, transforming it into a celebration of cultural and historical moments.
Since its inception, Matt has created over 5,575 SkullFACEs. His work reflects a deep connection to storytelling and pop culture, blending historical and contemporary narratives through his unique artistic lens.
